Assylem Richards is a visual artist, painter, designer , born and raised in the Parisian suburbs to a French mother and a Martinican father.
Her practice focuses on portraiture and anatomy as tools to explore identity and social dynamics. Rooted in a sociological and cultural framework, her work questions individualism and proposes a vision of the future as a collective process. The suburban landscapes of the Grand Paris its contrasted architectures, transitional spaces, inhabitants and cultural codes form both the backdrop and the raw material of her artistic gaze.
Since 2021, she has exhibited regularly in Paris. Her solo show Body Soul (Galerie Voltige, 2021) examined women, their bodies and their place in society. She participated in the group show Superflex (Galerie Ellia, 2022) and was featured in the Start exhibition (2023).
In 2024, she worked on an Head & Shoulders Campaign, addressing school bullying. Most recently, she presented GenZ Partie 1 (Galerie Ellia, 2025), the first installment of an ongoing solo project exploring Generation Z’s aesthetics and cultural codes, followed by Identités Plurielles (Galerie Ellia, 2025), a group show as part of the 15th edition of the « Festival de la Diversité Culturelle ».
Holding a Bachelor in Space Design, Assylem continues to develop a practice that is at once personal and deeply collective, committed to offering a sincere, contemporary representation of the territories and generations that shape us.
